If before food was a privilege and a thing for which we had to work hard, today the technological development has made it much easier to access food. Even more, we have come to have various health problems related to overeating and excess of a specific food.Under these conditions, the concepts of nutrition and a balanced diet have emerged, to which more and more people tend to turn.

What does a balanced diet mean?

Health experts say that a balanced diet means:” a diet rich in nutrients that ensures the proper functioning of the body”.In this context, the word diet is probably much said, because this term does not necessarily refer to limits in food but to a recommendation to eat the food our body needs in a wide variety in order not to overeat some foods and to absorb vitamins and minerals of different types.

What does a balanced diet contain?

A balanced diet involves the presence of the following food groups:

  • fresh fruits;
  • fresh vegetables;
  • grain;
  • green salads;
  • seeds;
  • nuts;
  • lean proteins.

What food should we avoid?

The foods in the groups listed above bring both nutrients and calories. But the problem arises when we end up consuming foods that bring us lots of calories but not the necessary nutrients.From the category of these low calorie foods we can list:

  • cakes, cookies, and donuts
  • processed meats
  • energy drinks and sodas
  • fruit drinks with added sugar
  • ice cream
  • chips and fries
  • the pizza
  • sodas.

These foods bring us many calories but without many fibers, vitamins, and minerals.Moreover, being high in sugar and various food additives for storage such as dangerous groups of E’s, if we eat these foods too often we will potentiate various heart diseases, autoimmune, cancer, etc.

Conclusion:

  1. Eat different food, do not abuse any aliment. And if you want you can eat something from the group of unhealthy foods, but don’t make it a habit. 
  2. Try to replace the sugar in the cakes with the sugar from fruits, the animal fats with vegetable fats, and avoid food additives – they affect your intestinal flora, which will later be seen in your weakened immunity.
